When Things Don’t Go According to Plan
So what happens when things don’t go according to plan? I am having one of those weeks where my well laid plans have not worked out.
My Plan
I had planned to do a great video and article about Finding Locations for Urban Sketching and things have not worked out as I hoped. It has been a week full of technical issues. A malfunction with my microphone has cost me hours of video. The video card in my computer has died leaving me without access to video editing software. This is just the start of the problems I have been having this week.
As a content creator, I try to stick to my posting schedule. I want to create great content for your enjoyment and encouragement. But I also want to live a life of practicing personal self-care.
My Realization
I’ve realized that no matter how well I plan my articles and videos, sometimes things just don’t go according to plan. This is not the first time I have lost many hours to re-creating content or technical issues. So I have made a decision. I could spend the next couple of days very anxious and stressed trying to re-create content and possibly make my Friday posting deadline.
Instead I’m going to practice self-care. I’m going to get my computer fixed, learn how to use my new microphone so that I can hopefully prevent audio issues in the future, and prepare for mental health week at the beginning of October.
Perseverance and Acceptance
I believe that sometimes it’s worth persevering through difficulties. It can be good to work through hard things to reach our goals. I also believe that there are moments that we need to accept our reality. This is one of those weeks for me. I’m going to regroup, reset and get my technical issues figured out so that I can bring you some great content in the weeks to come.
How About You?
I hope that this brings you some encouragement. We all have these moments where things don’t go according to plan. We have to find a way not to implode (which isn’t always easy) and instead find a place of peace to move on and find our way through.
Have you had moments like this before? I would love to hear about it and how you managed to find peace when things haven’t gone according to plan.
I hope that you have a great week of personal self-care and time for creative restoration. See you soon!
