3 Ways To Use Tombow Markers

As I was thinking about which art technique I would like to share with you this week as part of my Creative Foundation Series, 3 ways to Tombow markers in an unconventional way came to mind.

What are Tombow Dual Brush Pens?

If you are unfamiliar with Tombow Dual Brush pens, they are a great tool to use in art and papercrafts. They come in 108 colors and are useful for coloring, illustration, sketching and brush lettering. I often use them for these purposes, but also use them in some more unconventional ways. This week I will be sharing 3 ways that I use these markers in a more unconventional manner.

Tombow Dual Brush Markers are made from a water-based ink and are easy to use for blending colors. As they are water based, they react well to water making for some interesting blending techniques.

Using Tombow Markers

Before I started getting comfortable with watercolor paints, I often wanted to do watercolor techniques on projects. As I did not own watercolor paints, I started using Tombow markers to create faux watercolor backgrounds. They are very simple to make using these markers. The results are excellent and it is a great way to encourage your artistic self-care practice. If you are not confident using watercolor paints, you may find using Tombow markers to be a great alternative.

3 Techniques with Tombows

There are 3 techniques that I will be sharing today. First is how to blend Tombow markers when they are being applied directly to paper. Then we will discuss how to create blended backgrounds by swiping through the ink. Lastly, we will talk about how to blend color into sketches and doodles.
