In Time It’s Going to be Okay

This week I have been reflecting on the changes in life that we all have been experiencing lately. There is so much uncertainty. How do we effectively handle our emotions when things are so unsure? The thought struck me that “In time it’s going to be okay.”

Right Now it Does not Feel Okay

Right now it does not feel okay. I found that for the first month of social isolation and distancing I was able to stay quite hopeful and focused. The longer this is dragging out, the more I need to force myself to be focused and to practice self-care. It requires more diligence and more focus than ever before.

In the last few weeks, I know of more people dealing with layoffs and other stressors from this pandemic. My heart goes out to them. The stress is starting to take its toll. This is not an easy time for many of us.

Life will go Back to Normal

This is an unprecedented time, but it will eventually end. In time it will be okay, and life will go back to some semblance of “normal.” I look forward in anticipation to being able to visit a nice restaurant, be able to golf, visit the zoo and just be around friends. I hope that through this we will have a greater appreciation for all the amazing people and opportunities we have on a daily basis.

The Journal Project

As I thought about “In time it’s going to be okay” I wanted to express this in a journal page. I love my journal, not just for getting my thoughts out but as reminders of the milestones in my life. Capturing the emotions I experience helps me move towards peace in my life.

I wanted to share some of the techniques that I have been practicing in my personal journaling. Sometimes looking at a blank journal page, it is not always easy to know where to start.

In this project I started by applying several colors of acrylic paint on a canvas page to quickly get color down. By using a variety of stencils and acrylic paints I added layers to this page. I love adding altered embellishments to my pages to give a focal image to the page. I use a dip pen to add the journaling to this page to finish it up and add a personal touch.
